Therefore researchers are not sure why the heart is not properly developed, the following are possible causes:
- In families, because cardiac defects can occur.
- Increased risk of heart defect is attributed because to the use of certain prescription drugs during pregnancy.
- Alcohol or illegal medications therefore can increase a child’s risk of a heart defect during pregnancy.
- Moms with a viral infection will most often give birth to a child with a heart defect however in the first trimester of the pregnancy.
